The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Lepaga is dedicated to empowering the youth and fostering a vibrant, engaged community. We strive to create opportunities, promote active participation, and champion the interests of young people in our barangay.

BARANGAY PROFILE

Barangay Lepaga is one of the barangays of the municipality of M'lang in the province of Cotabato, Region XII (SOCCSKSARGEN). It is located at approximately 6.8771° north latitude and 124.8724° east longitude, with an average elevation of 22.8 meters above sea level. The barangay is bounded by Bagontapay, Buayan, and Palma-Perez of M'lang, and by Bagumbayan and La Esperanza of the municipality of Tulunan.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing, Lepaga has a total population of 2,827, which is 2.88 percent of the population of M'lang. The population increased from 2,148 in 1990 to 2,827 in 2020, showing a consistent upward trend. Between 2015 and 2020, the barangay recorded an annual growth rate of 0.83 percent.

In 2015, the barangay had a household population of 2,718 distributed across 725 households. The average household size was 3.75 persons. This household size is within the normal range for rural barangays in the province.

The age structure of Lepaga is relatively young. The median age in 2015 was 23.57 years, with the 5–9 age group being the largest, comprising 11.6 percent of the population. The total dependency ratio was 60.64, of which 53.31 was accounted for by youth dependency and 7.33 by old-age dependency. This indicates that a significant portion of the population consists of dependents, mostly children, which has implications for the provision of education and related social services.

Yes, under Section 20 (b) of the IRR of RA No. 10742, the SK has financial independence in its operations, disbursements, and encashment of its funds, income, and expenditures. As such, the Sangguniang Kabataan funds shall be deposited in the name of the Sangguniang Kabataan of the concerned barangay in a government-owned bank situated in or nearest to its area of jurisdiction with the Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson and the Sangguniang Kabataan treasurer as the official signatories.
